Muhly Grass, aka Muhlbergia, are some of the most spectacular native grasses. They deliver a powerful combination for home and commercial landscapes: drought tolerance and eye-catching good looks. They grow just as easily in uninhabitable areas as in well-tended gardens. Muhly grass is naturally found in Florida's pine Flatwoods, coastal uplands, and along its highways.

The easy-to-grow ornamental grass grows in clumps that are 3 to 4 feet tall and up to 3 feet wide when mature. It is native to Florida and the eastern half of the United States. The grass is known for its fluffy pink to purple flowers stalks which float above the body of the plant in an airy display worthy of a fairy princess. The most well-known, Pink Muhly, can stop traffic when in bloom. There is also a white flowering variety.

Muhly grass can be grown throughout Florida and is often used in borders or in mass plantings for a beautiful, drift-like effect. They should be spaced 24 to 36 inches apart.

Plant your Muhly grass in any type of soil, so long as it drains well

Muhly grass will perform best if planted in a sunny area.
