Another favorite wildflower and a must-have for your garden. Spiderwort, akaTradescantia a native to Florida. It blooms in the spring with long strap-like foliage that has three petals that come in either a lovely blue, violet, pink or white.

Even though each blossom lasts only about one-half day, the numerous buds contained in each flower cluster provide new flowers each day. Spiderwort is a member of the iris family with long narrow bright green leaves that offset the unusual, slightly fragrant.

These attractive flowers not only offer something different to the landscape but are really easy to grow and care for. This highly adaptable plant will thrive in nearly any conditions although it prefers slightly moist soil in an area of dappled shade.

Spiderwort is a beautiful addition to a native plant garden, pollinator garden, shade garden, or natural area. Spiderwort also adapts to containers.
