Southern Magnolia
Magnolias vary in all shapes and sizes, but perhaps the most popular magnolia in Florida is the Southern Magnolia.
The Southern Magnolia is a medium to a large-sized majestic southern evergreen tree with oval-shaped leaves 5-8 inches long and 2-3 inches wide that are green on top and rusty red on the bottom.
This beautiful tree makes a great accent. It is known for its large white cup shape and stunning fragrance flowers held atop the branches from mid-spring-early summer. It has beautiful dark green foliage with brown undersides. The large glossy pointy foliage is highly ornamental and turns coppery-bronze in the fall. The fruits are eye-catching red pods displayed from early to late fall.
Southern Magnolia will grow to be about 60 - 90 feet tall, 3 feet in diameter.
This tree does best in full sun to partial shade. It requires an evenly moist well-drained soil for optimal growth
