Often called Sago palms, Cycads are in no way palms. Palms are flowering plants. Cycads, like pine trees and juniper bushes, are gymnosperms "naked seed" plants. These seeds don't make flowers or fruits.

A Cycad plant is a column or trunk of old leaf bases surmounted by a cluster of new leaves. Cycad plants grow like trees and shrubs. They typically have short trunks topped off with a green crown of large compound leaves.

Cycad plants are dioecious, which means they have separate male and female plants. When mature, the male plants create pollen-filled cones, while the females create larger cones that contain seeds.

Since Cycad is a hardy plant, they are relatively easy to grow. Plant in rich well-drained soil. Too much water causes rot. Avoiding too frequent watering.

Plant in Full sun.
