Chances are, you’ve seen this multi-colored plant around. Its beautiful colors draw the eye like a moth to a flame.

One of South Florida's most popular and colorful foliage plants is the Croton, with brilliantly colorful foliage of gold, scarlet, orange, green, and yellow splotches.

The Croton shrub comes in a wonderful array of color combinations and leaf shapes making this a marvelous accent plant or hedge when left unpruned growing to 6-10 feet. There are more than 40 distinct varieties as well as countless other specimens with new combinations evolving constantly. Croton, also called “garden croton,” are native to the tropical forests of southeast Asia and Oceania. Available in sizes ranging from dwarf to small trees. The shrub prefers moist, well-drained soil with full to partial sun.
