PALM TREES
When you think of palm trees, the first thing that comes to mind is the sun, white sandy beaches, vacation, and an easygoing lifestyle.
Anywhere you look in Florida you will see beautiful palm trees. They are often used in many landscapes including shopping malls, hotels, new home development, botanical gardens, near swimming areas, and all along the street and, shorelines. Palms add that tropical feel to your landscape and are beautiful year-round. There are over 2,700 different species of palm trees species that exist in the world, and almost all can be grown in Florida. Palm trees can be separated into several types based on their trunk style, the structure of the leaf, growth rate, size, full maturity size, and resistance to the frigid temperature.
With so many options to choose from it can get overwhelming, especially if you are new to palms and gardening. When selecting a palm tree, first consider its purpose. Are you looking to shade a pool area, a statement in the front yard, or to provide privacy from your neighbor? Choosing the right reason will help you to narrow down your decision. If you live in a tropical state such as Florida, the climate will not be an issue since almost any palm will successfully grow there.
